Archaeological remains found during excavations at Coultorsay on Islay included one late Bronze Age timber building, another domestic structure, lithic and stone artefacts as well as pottery. In addition there was an early medieval metalworking workshop in a figure-of-eight shaped building dated between the 6th-9th centuries AD, with domestic activities nearby. Finds included metalworking debris, a bone needle, a shale bangle, pottery sherds and daub.
