A medieval ditch and fence alignment forming a medieval burgage plot boundary were encountered in the centre of the historic town of Ayr. The location of the ditch and its artefacts is important in understanding and dating the expansion of the royal burgh and the changes in land use and occupations associated with it in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries.
